  • Mildly entertaining and educational. The one major downfall is that like most toys these days, it is made in China (probably by kids that never had toys,) and it is made cheaply. Right now, it seems to be functioning properly. Aside from supporting communism, child labor, poor human rights, little to no environmental standards and the outsourcing of American jobs, this product is okay.

  • Although all of the legs worked, and would say colors in 3 languages…

no music will play from this octopus’ head!

Unfortunately the toy stop working after one day. After reading the reviews, I was excited to get the octoplush but once it came to the house it stopped working after several minutes. It would cost more to ship back so we just consumed the cost. What a waste! I wouldn’t recommend this toy.

  • My wife’s Mexican. She commented how the recorded voice samples for each color are said with an uplifting, positive manner, all except for the color “brown”. “Brown” is said with a frown and a downward, somber pitch inflection. Me being a white guy, I know she’s pickin’ and we always make fun of it.

My only complaint with the toy is that the buttons beneath the fabric apparently shift around and lead one to believe that the button no longer works. It would be great if there were lights on the toy which interacted with the sound/button-pressing. All toys also need to come with a repeat function to allow a song to play indefinitely, or at least 5 minutes.

I have been using this toy to play music for my now 8 week old who used to scream during diaper changes. Now she watches her “octopus friend” and even coos at him when he’s quiet. I’m looking forward to her using this toy for learning colors, as she comes from a multi-lingual family.
