These Rook cards do contain the larger font of an earlier edition. However, the yellow suit is very pale and difficult to see. After we opened the cards (two sets were purchased), we found that the Rooks on the backs of the cards were printed upside-down. The cards are also not particularly sturdy. These cards appear to be irregulars.

Rook cards great shape except the cards in yellow were very hard to see because the color was to light. Had never seen any like them before.

Created in 1906 as an alternative “card” game for those who believed that regular cards were sinful and of the devil, Rook is a game that people of all ages will enjoy playing. My family has played Rook since I was a very young child and I’ve never gotten tired of playing the game. I’ve enjoyed playing the game with my grandparents, aunts, and uncles as well as college students. There are several different styles of game play, depending on the number of people you have (2-6) and depending on how challenging you want the game to be. Rook is a great game for families to play and I recommend it to anyone looking for something a little bit different from the norm.

We have been playing Rook for several generations, too. We have such a large family and we all love it so well, that we had to invent a more deluxe game where more people could play. We came up with a game where we can play with 7 people. Even that wasn’t enough though, so now we play high-low table. We get hours of enjoyment out of this game.

I don’t understand the negative reviews about this product. I have ordered three copies of this game and have had each copy come in perfect condition. The cards are sturdy and I have no problem reading them and feel all of the colors are appropriate and easy to see. None of my cards were printed upside down and the cards feel like typical cards, if not slightly better than normal. The cards have a smooth finish. If you are a fan of the game Rook, or any of the fun games that exist that require a Rook deck to play, I would not hesitate purchasing this deck. It is a reasonable deal, includes a card tray, and also includes a booklet and score pad.
