I was not happy with the lack of non-wooden building blocks for preschoolers and Kindergartners who needed something between Duplos/Megabloks and Legos, and I’m now happy to report that Trios are just great — they were the missing link!
Trio blocks and pieces do snap together easily, and I think their only major downside is that sometimes the blocks are hard to unsnap from each other, even for adult hands. I’ve been playing with a couple sets for a few weeks with my child, and overall, I’m pretty satisfied with Trios and plan on getting more building sets for my son. I appreciate the easy-to-follow visual building diagrams as well. That is not a dig at Zoobs, but you know, some of the Zoob design diagrams were hard to follow compared to Trio construction diagrams.

We bought these for my 3 1/2 year old and they are fantastic. We’ve been through a lot of other building sets and many of them have problems staying together (Tinker toys) or holding his attention (bristle blocks). The Trio blocks are easy for my son to do by himself yet stay together for him to play with the completed piece after he assembles them. The sticks are a little bit more challenging to keep in but nothing that detracts from the usability of this toy. The instructions are also easy to follow.

This was a gift for my almost 2 yr. old nephew. He loves to build things, so this was perfect! My sister loves the storage box and my nephew likes helping her to clean up when he is done playing.

If you read one of my recent reviews on a certain building block you’d know that I was relieved to find these `Trio’ blocks because they actually stay connected, which leads to lasting play time. My daughter LOVES to build and so these were the perfect present for her.
I don’t know why some have complained about the pieces being difficult to snap together. We haven’t had a single problem. To be honest, when I first purchased them both my wife and I were concerned that our daughter wouldn’t be able to get the hang of things, but she pretty much took right to it (it took her a few days to get it down, and she still struggles at times with the rods).
She’s 2, so this really shouldn’t be too difficult for most children.
The pieces are very durable, and the snap system means that your creations will stay together as long as you want them too, no matter how much you pick them up and move them.
I wish that they had had some girly ones (pink would have been preferable) since these blocks really do carry the look and feel of a boyish block, but my daughter doesn’t really know the difference and loves the just the same. There is a lot you can do with these (although each kind of block set carries with it its own limitations, and there are some here) and so the imagination game is ready to be played.
All in all I’m really impressed with these and highly recommend them!
