  • This is a comment in response to the review from the “Toy Enthusiast in Belmont”; perhaps he should become a little less enthused about toys and more enthused about the english language. The definition of Geology is as follows:

    ge·ol·o·gy ( P ) Pronunciation Key (j-l-j)
    n. pl. ge·ol·o·gies
    1. The scientific study of the origin, history, and structure of the earth.
    2. The structure of a specific region of the earth’s crust.
    A book on geology.
    3. The scientific study of the origin, history, and structure of the solid matter of a celestial body.

I’m interested in learning what significance this term has in reference to the Large Green Baseplate. Perhaps he should spend less time playing legos and get an education. I suggest a geometry class for starters (but that’s just me……)

  • What do you do with this? Oh!!! It’s a stamp! put some ink on the bump that says LEGO and keep on printing it on a piece of paper with five-hundred prints saying LEGO on them!!! What fun!!!

  • This toy does not do anything! Who would want to pay seven dollars for this? If you’re actually looking to buy this, let me warn you it’s a ripoff.

  • My, what invective discourse for such a simple implement. This item is 15″ x 15″ of pure green plastic joy, and when I was a kid it was included in any LEGO set. Clearly, its conspicuous absence denotes a provocative and emotive commentary on modern society. LEGOs in general represent the concept of gestalt, where clearly the summation of the assembled whole cannot be determined by the individual parts, including this green base.

Since earlier reviews bring up geometry and geology, I feel that I must comment. This 15×15 inch toy is 7.90501581 × 10^17 smaller than our earth’s surface. Utilizing LEGOs with the BIG GREEN BOARD allows us to model geological structures by building representations of subsurface strata. Economic Geology can make great use of such a tool for identifying gold scarns in complex mountainous terrains.

However, this is just a toy (or more fairly, just a PART of a toy), and it would be unfair to rest too much cultural significance upon it. (I might need to look into the BIG GRAY BOARD, though.)

In conclusion, I feel that this toy helps stabilize assemblages of LEGO structures better than a table-top and allows adequate security during mobility. Every kid should have one, (unless they don’t have any other LEGOs, and then it would be pointless, except in an avant-gard setting). I guess this is why I only gave it 4 stars.

  • I was a bit disappointed with the quidditch practice LEGO set so I decided to buy this green baseplate and to buy two of the quidditch practice sets to make the ultimate quidditch pitch. I had a lot of fun and whatever you use this for it is sure to be a lot of fun
